Probably one of the most famous games to ever get launched, Lost Ark allows the players to create a character look that is perfect for players, and it may be one of the most important aspects of their experience in an MMO for many players worldwide.
Although the game achieved fame overnight due to its spectacular combat, the creative powers of its characters, its various exciting dungeons, and the extremely wild swings its central adventure goes through, modifying the characters to each player’s preference is still among one of the more popular reasons the game achieved over a million players within the first night of its launch.
One of the aspects of your character which you can modify in the game is their hair. Curious about how you can change your character’s hair in Lost Ark? Keep on reading, as we break it down for you.
The good news is that yes, you can change your hair in Lost Ark. There are two ways to alter your character’s appearance in Lost Ark. One, obviously, is at the beginning where you get to choose to build your character from scratch, including their appearance and their wardrobe. Here you can customize your character to an impressive detail.
But what happens when a player realizes that they have made a mistake with their character’s look after they have left the creation screen? Worry not, for there is also another way to change your appearance in Lost Ark, which might not have been as obvious at first glance. After the player has chosen their chosen server to play on, there is an option in the bottom-right corner of the character selection screen. The option is known as Reskin, which is where players can change their character’s appearance.

Without further ado, let us get right to it!
Changing Hair in Lost Ark
Lost Ark is an epic tale of demons and gods told with superb narrative prowess. The story of the MMO is phenomenal and the combat to boot only adds to the spice and exhilaration. The story is divided into chapters that consistently improve in quality and offer something new for just about any type of player. Before you can dive into the hit game itself, you need to create your character, which includes selecting their hair.
Creating Your Character for the First Time
Although its character editing tools are somewhat limited, players can still customize many traits of their characters in Lost Ark. You can choose a multitude of hairstyles based on your personal preferences (Fantasies. Who are we kidding, right?) when creating your character for the first time.
After selecting a Class and Subclass for your character, you can continue on to the Costumes, Actions, and Preset settings of your character. After these alterations are made, the player then proceeds further to Base settings, which is where the magic happens.
Here, the players begin by basing their characters on one of 25 presets, or by generating a random one having random traits and features. These attributes include different face shapes, hairstyles, eye types, skin tones, and even makeup which can then be modified within the following tabs. Resetting will get rid of any changes made to the preset base and bring it back to its predefined configuration.
If a player is not satisfied with the hair that their character already has, fret not; for the next tab in the customization phase is Face, and then (finally!) Hair. This section of customization proposes 20 different hairstyles for each of the five Classes.
It is important to note here that these hairstyles differ from one Class to another. So, for example, the hair available for the Mage Class is different from the ones offered to Martial Artists, even though both Classes are female characters.
Players can customize diverse aspects of their characters’ hair like
- Hair Color Amount: One single color or two colors combined. However, selecting two colors means more options for further personalization, like pattern shapes, contrasts, and color length (balayage, anyone?)
- Hair Color Value: (Huh? What?) Both of the hair colors can be chosen with a chromatic color wheel or with a Hex (Hexadecimal) color code.
- Hair Gloss: Burglar and Range settings sliders control the amount and appendage of the hair reflection.
- Detailed Settings: This option is only available when the Two Colors option is enabled. This allows the player to alter the contrast (controls the blending range of both colors), the pattern shape (effect of the designed blending pattern), and the length I & II (limit of each color in the hair).
Changing the Character’s Hair Afterwards
One of those players who thought they had created the perfect look for their character, but got bored afterward? Or just realized that your character had longer hair than you have in real life? (Just kidding. . . or are we?) So what? Do not worry. You are just a player who realized they had made a mistake after exiting the creation screen. There is a way to perfect your character’s hair once again.
But there is a catch (isn’t there always? *rolls eyes*). Using the Reskin button at the bottom-right of the character selection screen can help the player in altering the appearance of their character. However (the catch!), unfortunately, this option is not free. It will cost the player an Appearance Customization Ticket. Unlike the other parts of your character like clothing, your character’s hairstyle does not change with their skin, unfortunately.
So what can you do? You can purchase a character customization ticket so that you can alter the appearance of your character afterward. The Character Customization Ticket can be purchased from the in-game store for 800 crystals (inflation, I tell you!).
Once you have purchased the Character Customization Ticket, you will need to go back to “Character Select” and click on “Appearance Change” in the bottom right corner of the screen window. There, you select the character and can adjust the appearance of your character’s hair as you wish.
Please be aware that any changes you make without buying the ticket will not be saved while you exit the character editing screen. To change your hair again, you will have to buy another Appearance Customization Ticket. Once you use one, it is gone for good. So unless you want to spend another USD 9.99/- for 1000 crystals, make sure to buy the Character Customization Ticket before any customizations.
Conclusion
The appearance of your game characters is crucial while you immerse yourself in the universe of your character, as that is what RPG games are all about. They give you the feeling that it is actually, you are in that world, grinding for lots of materials and resources, and trying your best to survive. The same is the case with Lost Ark; unless you modify your character to your full fondness and enjoyment, you will not feel as attached to your character as you should in order to enjoy the game fully.
While changing the hair of a character in the game is not totally out of the league, it does cost the player if they did not customize it in the beginning. But do not lose hope; for you just need to spend a bunch of Royal Crystals (which is the premium currency of the game and can be bought by spending real money), and your character will be new again!
