What? Need a weapon, but do not have any? How about you craft your own? It is not that difficult.
The Forest is a survival game that features the players as the lone survivor of a plane crash, and they have to survive and wander about in The Forest to search for their lost son. Sounds interesting, but it is one of the top-rated horror games ever. The game is as realistic as it could be, where you enter a forest where every tree and plant can be cut down to make weapons and shelter, and the underground world can be visited through an elaborate network of caves and underground lakes.
In this simulator, the players can cut down trees to make shelter, weapons, and fire. They have to search and fight for food and have to lay down traps to guard their surroundings. They have to keep themselves safe from a clan of mutants so that the players may survive. These mutants look almost human, except they are not. Be careful out there!
Coming in possession of a weapon such as The Spear at the beginning of the game can be a huge advantage to the players. It is one of those weapons which can be upgraded and made better by doing a little something to them. Essentially, the players can find The Spear near water bodies. But if push comes to shove, and the players have to make their own, they just need to possess two sticks, and they are good to go!
Have found A Spear, but do not know how to upgrade it? Or have sticks and do not know how to craft one? Do not worry, we have got your back. Here are all the answers that you are searching for.

Crafting A Spear in The Forest
The Spear is a weapon system in The Forest, which is fantastic for fighting off cannibals, as well as slaying other neutral attacks. Initially, the Spear could not be crafted in the game and had to be found. It was usually found near water bodies. However, the developers gave the item a crafting recipe during an upgrade, and now the players can craft their own Spears!
Some tips to know about The Spear are that when using a Spear, you can kill deer by throwing it at them in a single shot. Being able to run and use the spear at the same time makes killing smaller animals much easier, such as turtles, and many others. It is a great tool for farming meat and keeping your character full while on hunger. The spear is handy insofar that it can be swung around while running in The Forest, and it will inflict damage. How do you make it, you ask? Read below.
Materials Needed to Craft The Spear
Crafting a Spear can for sure be done within the first few minutes of gameplay in The Forest. To craft it, all the players need is 2 sticks which can be obtained from bushes and searching the ground. Sticks are the easiest raw material to find in the game, for the reason that they generate near trees throughout the game world. On the other hand, you can also cut down some of the smaller trees or other saplings when there are no sticks on the ground. Now all you need to do is to go into your backpack and combine the two sticks by right-clicking them and clicking on the cogwheel. See? Easy!
Variations of The Spear
Three different variations of The Spear exist in The Forest:
- The Weak Spear
- The Upgraded Spear
- The Incendiary Spear
The Weak Spear
When two sticks are combined, the player gets a Weak Spear. It is the standard spear that can be made with just the combination of two sticks.

The Upgraded Spear
To construct an Upgraded Spear, the players will need to merge their Weak Spear with 2 pieces of Cloth and 3 Bones. An Upgraded Spear will do a little more damage compared to the Weak Spear, except when it is thrown. Then the damage of both spears will remain the same.
The Incendiary Spear
To create an Incendiary Spear, all the players need to do is just merge their Upgraded Spear with 1 Cloth and 1 Booze. Attacking an opponent or animal with this sort of spear will bring burn damage to them.
The weak spear can be found inside or around ponds, or alternatively, can be made by combining two sticks. Cloth can be found in caves, on shelves in camps, and in suitcases. To make bones, the players must make an Effigy and burn it. Once it finishes burning, rocks, bones, and skulls will be in their place. From there, the players will have all the necessary raw materials to craft an Upgraded Spear.
Using The Crafted Spear
With The Spear, a player has access to three types of attacks:
- The Standard Attack
- The Stab Ground Attack
- The Thrown Attack
1. The Standard Attack
This is where the players’ attack in front of them. To hit straight ahead of the players, they should attack akin to how one might do with an axe. While doing so, the players are advised not to aim the spear too high or too low.
2. The Stab Ground Attack
This is where the player stabs the ground as an attack tactic. To enter this mode, the player has to aim The Spear downwards. This attack is found to be useful when hitting low-down enemies, such as turtles and rabbits. However, it can also be used to finish off any dying cannibals, and for prying open suitcases. If your Spear gets stuck, just move the mouse up and down, and it will be good to go once again.
3. The Thrown Attack
In this attack, the player can toss the spear by holding the right click, which will make their character aim. Left-clicking the mouse will then release the spear forwards, whereas simply letting go of the right click will just end the motion.
The Spear can be thrown and can also be used in a jabbing manner in all directions. It is a useful replacement to the crafted Bow or modern Bow for fishing from the land if you wish to conserve your arrows. It cannot be used while swimming, however, so its restricted thrusting range from the coastline can make spearfishing a bit inefficient.
The players can carry both an Upgraded Spear and a Weak Spear at the same time. They do, however, need to keep in mind that the damage inflicted by these Spears values from throwing them is fixed, and strength will not affect the damage or range of the thrown spear. The players cannot, unfortunately, block an attack with a spear.

Things to Note
Although crafting a Spear was not initially possible in The Forest, it has since been made available during the game’s recent upgrades. Crafting a Weak Spear in The Forest is rapid, straightforward, and does not cost you much in the way of supplies. To make one only 2 sticks are needed. Once you have that in your hold, you can work on constructing the upgraded version for more damage if you feel like it.
There are 3 different attack modes with the spear. The players can either attack directly in front of them, down towards the ground or throw The Spear from a distance at an enemy or a kill. That last one is a fantastic assault move for when Cannibals are running away.
Players have to keep in mind that the upgraded variant of this weapon does the same extent of harm when thrown as the weak variant, so it is best to restrict it to melee combat to negate the risk of being unable to retrieve it. That is all the players need to know to get themselves a nice, pointy stick to fend off their enemies and to hunt in The Forest.
Conclusion
That concludes today’s guide on how to make a spear in The Forest. The Forest is a game that is based purely on survival, and the players need various weapons to hunt for food and to defend themselves against certain enemy attacks in order for them to survive. While it is not an easy task, acquiring and crafting a weapon such as The Spear can be a huge help to the players.
